High Cotton

Saturday, November 21st, 2009

Here’s a shot we grabbed the other day shooting family portraits in an Alabama cotton field. The scenery is fantastic.

Alana is a regular on the Studio A blog. Here she is in a few outfits that Grandma wanted to see her in.

Keuka Lake Panorama

Thursday, November 19th, 2009

Another shot from the finger lakes. I went to take a picture of a vineyard on the side of Keuka Lake, and our guide suggested that I take multiple exposures and put ‘em all together. I also remembered Stephen doing about this a few times with 4×5 polaroids, and I thought I’d give it a shot with the Rolleiflex.

RZ67 Portrait Studio – 3

Wednesday, November 18th, 2009

Yours truly in the most flattering pose known to man. A little bit of early peeling on this one…no biggie.

P.S. The RZ67 is going in tomorrow for an exploratory operation. We’re still not sure what’s wrong with her, but we’d like for everyone to keep her in mind for the next few weeks as she wrestles with focusing issues.

RZ67 Portrait Studio – 2

Tuesday, November 17th, 2009

Shot number two from RZ67 portrait series.

Amy’s folks: John & Ann

This series, by the way, was shot as a test to discover the source of our RZ67 focusing issues. We were running into a lot of blurry images, and we had to intentionally focus at a shorter distance than the subject in order to get sharp. It happens with both the polaroid back and the 120 back, so it seems to be something in the camera body. Looks like we’ll be sending off for repair. Anybody got any suggestions for what might be the problem?

RZ67 Portrait Studio – 1

Here’s the first shot from our series of photos taken with the RZ67 in the front room. It’s a good series.

I wish our scanner could do some justice, because these things are like gold when they’re in your hand.

See the Stewarts and their summer Saturday evening of scrabble, spiders, and some other silly stuff.

All Around the World (or at least it feels like it)

We’ve been so busy lately we sort of feel like this:

I think we may be approaching a little bit of a breathing point, so we ought to have a lot of new material showing up soon.

Also, here is a shot of the business cards that Josh designed for us. Cool, eh?

New Website (courtesy of Josh Lafayette)

Saturday, November 7th, 2009

Hooray!

We are very eager today to announce the launch of a new identity, and more specifically a new website! We commissioned our good friend Josh Lafayette, who is a fantastic graphic designer, to help us build a new look for Studio A Photography that better represented us and our clients. We started with a logo, and subsequently created a new website (designed and coded by Josh, of course) that could showcase our new identity consistently, accurately, and beautifully.

We wanted to do an interview with Josh about designing the website, but his lack of bandwidth in Italy prevented a high-quality live interview and pushed us toward the superbly scripted masterpiece you will find below.

Please enjoy the video, and be sure to stop by Josh’s website and give him your business.
